These series of techniques of using elemental energies were developed by me quite a few years ago, for purposes of healing. They can be adapted for thaumaturgical uses, as well. I feel that these techniques follow basic IE structures.
The basic techniques involve tapping the elemental energies and directing them towards a definite goal.
First I will focus on using the elemental energies for healing, then touch on adapting it for more general magickal purposes later. The first step would be to identify which element one needs to work with. Generally speaking, Earth is formative, Water is soothing, contracting and deals with emotions, Air is moving, and deals with gases, and Fire is energetic and transforming. There are, of course, many more associations but this is a basic guideline for the purposes of learning these techniques.
The health problem one is experiencing would determine which element to use. For example, acid idigestion would call on water, since water is soothing and contracting. The idea is to get the extra acid to be reduced.
To access the elemental energies, one would visualize themselves filled with, and made out of the element in question. Afirmations can be used to further this association, such as "I am magickal and infinite (name of element)". The practitioner should try to feel one with the element and totally identify with it. They must try to feel as much as possible that they are not themselves, but the element they are working with. This gives access to the specific elemental energies one wishes to work with.
Secondly, one needs to direct this energy. Affirmations can be used again, while maintaining connection with the elemental forces. For the acid idigestion example given above an affirmation could be, "My stomach is tranquil, and feeling great." This would be repeated, with variations, if necessary, until results have manifested. Sometimes I have found that one can stop the techniques and they will continue on their own, in cases where results are taking a long time to manifest.
These would involve icreasing or decreasing the amount of a particular elemental energy within oneself in order to balance out the energy levels. Also these techniques would be used to perform other magickal workings besides internal healing.
First, containers can be imagined being held. If one needs an increase of a particular elemental energy, one would see this container filled. Then on an inhalation, the elemental energy would be brought in and absorbed by the practitioner.
To decrease elemental energy level, an empty container would be filled from energy from the practitioner on an exhalation. Then the filled container would be disposed, taking the extra energy away with it.
For magickal uses, once the practitioner has become one with the elemental energies, they can be projected, perhaps through the hands towards some specific destination. This techniques would be useful for charging talismans/amulets. The specific elemental energy could also be projected into a person for healing purposes.
Utilizing symbols can be another effective technique for tapping into various power sources. One can see symbols as gateways to specific energy patterns. To use symbols, you would visualize the symbol within you, and know that it is a doorway to energy. Then visualize that energy pouring out to fill you, or being transmitted where you need it to go. You would also want to try to identify with the symbol as much as possible and to feel it resonate within you. This is the same principle where if you set off a tuning fork, a second fork of the same frequency will start to resonate and produce sound without coming into physical contact with the first. The closer you become to the specific energy, the more you will be able to work with it.
Each element discussed also has symbols to represent them. One well known system consists of four triangles. Earth is an inverted triangle with a line through the middle, usually black or green in color. Air is a point-up triangle with a line through the middle, and is yellow in color. Fire is a point-up red triangle, and Water is a blue inverted triangle. Each of these symbols can give access to the respective elemental energies.
