At this year's annual meeting, I gave a "State of the Grove" address. Among other things, I talked about how disheartened I feel about our Grove not having a full complement of officers. I was specifically addressing the fact that we haven't had a Grove Administrator to take care of our administrative functions. Annette and Rod have been doing their best to fulfil that role, but without one person who can stay on top of everything, some issues will slip through the cracks and not be resolved. And as our Grove's spiritual side continues to grow, our org side continues to stumble,
Along with this newsletter, we'll be mailing out ballots for the current election to our full members. We have five offices listed on that ballot - and a grand total of two candidates. Unless we get some write-in candidates before the election, or some volunteers after, then we'll be going without and Administrator, a Youth Activities Coordinator, and an Outreach Coordinator. If these offices aren't filled, then not only will our organizational processes suffer, but we won't be able to develop a youth education program, and we won't have anyone to handle our event advertising.
I know that as you read this, you may be saying to yourself, "That's not something I'm good at, wouldn't it be better if someone more talented did it?" Well, at the moment, there isn't anyone else to do it. The real question is, could you do a better job than if there were nobody doing it at all?
I'm asking everyone out there to think about helping us out by volunteering for one of these three positions. If we can make our organization run more smoothly, if we can develop an educational program, if we can spread the word about ourselves, then our Grove can improve. And if not - then we'll just keep stumbling along, as usual.
