Note: These are specifically for the invocations performed during a Shining Lakes Grove ritual. Your mileage/deities may vary. We have them written on 3x5 notecards, for those who would like to take a part during the rite but don't know quite what to say. They can be used verbatim, or as a general guideline.
Allies, those who lived here before us, and those that they worshipped. We welcome you to our rite, and offer you a place by our hearth.
Ana, Earth Mother, river goddess. Your children thank you for bringing the life to the land, and we honor you.
Sacred fire, carry our offerings to the gods and the beloved dead. May you warm our spirits and our lives.
Sacred well, whose waters flow and swirl beneath us. May your depths connect us to the great underground sea and the ageless powers below.
World tree, sacred center of the universe. Your roots delve deep into the earth, your branches reach the heights of the sky, and your mighty trunk connects them. May you be the strong center around which our rite revolves.
Outsiders, forces of chaos, you who choose not to be part of our workings. We make you this offering, and ask that you not disturb us during this rite.
Mannanan mac Lir, Grey Walker, Keeper of the Gates. You guided the Ancestors to the Isle of Avalon. Guide us now as we journey through the Otherworld.
Ancestors, those who have already journeyed from this world. We ask you to be with us in our rite, so that we may honor you.
Nature Spirits, spirits of the wild, those of fur and feather and scale, and those of leaf and root. We ask that you join us in our rite, so that we may honor you.
We honor those deities not mentioned elsewhere in our rite: Bel, first father; Danu, primal mother; Lugh, our tribal father; Brid, goddess of the hearth; and Aren, god of love and beauty. Please be with us in our rite, so that we may honor you.
In the ancient cultures, there were three functions among the people: the Producers, the farmers and artisans who grew the food and made the items they needed to survive; the Warriors, who protected the people and the boundaries; and the Sages, who kept the knowledge of the Laws and the Lore. Let us honor them in our rite, and within ourselves, as we do their sacred work this day.
