Through our collective work here we have created a spirit world tree which we align with the bile' during ritual. This exercise is to familiarize ourselves with this spirit tree of our tribe.
Purify each other and then form a circle around the tree. Ask someone to guide us to construct and align the cosmic tree in our customary fashion.
Have everyone lie down on the ground with their heads near the bile' base.
Begin with relaxation and settling. Then make them aware of themselves and remind them of their position in the grove.
"Now I want you to leave your body lying there on the ground. Allow your awareness to separate from it for a time. I will watch over you and protect you while you are venturing. Look around the Grove for a moment. See me sitting here, see your companions as they rise from their bodies. Take note of anyone's appearance that you can see.
Now before you in the center of this space is a massive tree trunk. It rises far up out of sight but you can see the green leaves far overhead. See how it glows with life force and power as it stands before you.
Move toward the trunk. Reach out and feel the texture of the bark. Is it rough or smooth?
Now move even closer to the trunk, so close that you are seeping into the cracks of the bark.
Now move downward. Down into the earth. She opens up and willingly accepts you as you continue down. Follow the trunk as it sinks deeper into the earth. Keep going down into the dark. Sinking down.
Below there is a faint light. Go down to it. The earth opens up to a large glowing chamber at the roots of the tree.
The chamber is half full of water that is flowing outward into the walls. The black roots of the tree reach down from the roof and into the heart of a gushing well in the center of the chamber. The water is flowing out and up to the surface of the land.
There is a glow coming from under the surface of the well. Look down into the water. There is treasure there, some of it you will recognize, some will be unfamiliar. Do not touch it but look deeply. What do you see?
This well is the primal source of wisdom. See the bubbles of inspiration as they float to the surface. Do you see anything else?
Now back away from the well and look closely at the roots. There is a pair of eyes calmly watching you. Blended into the roots of the tree is a massive snake. You are not in danger from it. It is only watching. It is coiled around the tree, protecting it and the treasure.
Take one last look and lets move upward. Slowly come back to the surface. Up through the navel of the sacred land.
See yourself lying there, safe and comfortable.
Now move upward along the trunk. Up to the level of the treetops. You are safely floating on a gentle updraft along the massive trunk. Rise up. Now at least twice as tall as any tree in the forest below. You can see far out across our land. Can you see the River Mother? Can you see Big Lake? Are there people below?
As you rise look up. Do you see the lowest branches approaching? Lush green leaves everywhere. Move up into the branches and find a comfortable perch near the trunk.
Now look around. The branches are massive and go far up out of view. Take a look at the leaves of this tree. Remember their shape.
And there among the leaves. Out toward the ends of the branches, there are fruits, or are they nuts. What do you see there swaying gently in the breeze? Do they appear normal? They bear a special gifts. They can give wisdom and immortality. But don't take one this time, they will be here when you need them. Leave them for the future.
Hear and feel the breezes play through the leaves. But now there are other sounds. What do you hear? Can you see where they are coming from?
The treetop is bustling with life. There many creatures here. Take a moment to watch from the safety of your perch.
Now its time for us to return. Climb down to the lowest branch.
Let go and gently float down on the breeze, staying close to the tree.
The forest is getting closer. Rising up to meet you. And there below is our sacred Grove. Move down to it.
Before you return to your body look around once more. See the nemeton around you. Does it look different?
This is our sacred ground, our special place of gathering and celebration at the base of our massive tree of our tribe.
Look at the tree one last time. It is our tree of life. A sacred tree of knowledge and wisdom. It is a bridge between the worlds as they intertwine here in our Grove. It is our tree of sovereignty. It symbolizes our deep connection with this land and claims our right to live here in peace. It channels the fruits of the magic that we work here, sending it downward and then back out again in the waters of the well, rising back up to the surface bringing life and abundance.
Now return to your bodies. .....
